Doctor’s Profile

Dr Wee Horng Yen was formerly Senior Consultant and Head of Unit at KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Department of O&G.  He has been in private O&G practice at NOVENA since 2012.

In Obstetrics, he specialises in non invasive prenatal diagnosis, peri-partum (care of women in labour) care, high risk obstetrics, post partum hemorrhage and gestational diabetes. In KKH he was Co chairman of breast feeding health initiative which included advocating immediate mother-baby skin to skin contact; which he remains an advocate

In Gynaecology, his speciality include Level 3 (advanced) laparoscopy and hysterocopy for fibroids and endometriosis, regional trainer for Mirena insertion and management,  screening, prevention of cervical cancer and he was former Co-Chairman of KKH Laser Accreditation Committee (KKH).

His medical career was dedicated to personalised patient care; keeping it simple, offering honest evidence based advice.

His work received the highest service awards from Ministry of Health, Public Service Commission, SPRING SINGAPORE, Singapore Health Services and Straits Times MYB Inaugaral Top Ten Doctors Award.

He graduated from Trinity College, University of Dublin, obtained full registration with Irish Medical Council in 1996 and full registraion with General Medical Council(UK) in 2001.  Dr Wee completed Fellowship of Academy of Medicine(Singapore) in 2003.

Dr Wee has trained in St James Hospital Dublin, Glasgow (West of Scotland, UK) NHS Hospitals, Birmingham (West Midlands NHS Hospitals,UK), Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA and KK Hospital, Singapore.  

In 2005, Dr Wee led the Singapore medical relief team in the care of women after the Tsunami in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Dr Wee was confered Minister of Health award.

Dr Wee keeps abreast of latest innovations and rapid scientific developments and is keen to deliver evidence based care from research to patients.  He is recognised for his critical scientific analysis by his peers;  currently serves on the Editorial Board of Singapore Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, the main Singapore journal specialising in women care, a position he has held since 2010.
